Arts Tech

Digital technologies have become a pervasive and integral component of a myriad of arts practices. The College of Fine Arts offers specific curricula designed to afford students experience and training in these new digital technologies from a fine arts perspective grounded in a rich history and practice of traditional art forms. These technology rich courses are housed in the Department of Art and Art History and the Division of Film Studies. All University students, regardless of declared major, are eligible to take classes from the wide range of courses offered. Several of these courses culminate with the opportunity to become an Apple Certified Pro User for individual Apple applications. Some students may choose to further their education by pursuing either a Certificate or a Minor in Arts Technology.

The Arts Technology Certificate and Minor tracks are designed for the undergraduate student who has a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and a desire to integrate traditional arts with digital technologies (e.g. digital imaging, multimedia presentation, experimental video, web design, 3-D graphics, and animation). Students will learn the tools, techniques, and collaborative process necessary to respond to a rapidly changing field.
